Chettinad Chicken

Chettinad Chicken is the most popular chicken curry based on the authentic recipes.It is one of the most flavorful chicken dishes from south Indian cuisine.This curry is usually prepared from freshly roasted spices and coconut,which is then grounded to a fine paste and added to the chicken.
Your whole house would smell heavenly with this aroma and the curry tastes yummy.

Chicken Chettinad













 Preparation Time - 10 to 15mins     Cooking Time - 30mins            Serves - 4

 Ingredients

  • Chicken - 500 gm
  • Onion - 2
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt
Chettinad Masala

  • Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
  • Red chilli - 4
  • Fennel seeds/sombu - 2tbsp
  • Cumins seeds/jeera - 1 tbsp
  • Cinammon stick - 1
  • Fresh coconut grated - 1/4 cup
  • Peppercorn - 2tbsp
  • Black stone flower/kalpasi - 2 to 3 pieces
  • Cardamom/Yelakai - 3
  • Star anise/Natchatira sombu - 1 
Procedure 
  • Add salt,turmeric powder,lemon juice to chicken and marinate for 30mins.
  •  
  • Dry roast all the spices except coconut in a kadai.
  • After spices are cooked add coconut and roast till the coconut turns light golden color.Grind these spices to a fine paste.
  • In a kadai heat oil and add onions and saute them till it turns translucent.later add curry leaves,ginger garlic paste and tomato let all these ingredients cook well.
  • Now add marinated chicken and mix well.cover the kadai and cook it around 15 mins.
  • Once the chicken is cooked add the masala paste and cook for anothe 15 mins.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
