This is my Mom's version South Indian Chicken soup which is one of our favorite. This soup is very healthy and nutritious.When ever I am down with cold I prefer to have this soup,as this soup has all such ingredients that helps to clear your cold.
This soup can be made with meat,chicken and naatukozhi,I would prefer with bone as it increases the flavor and also the marrow in the bone helps to clear the cold.

Ingredients
- Chicken with bone - 100gms
- Onion - 1
- Tomato - 1
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 tbps
- Garlic - 2 to 3 pods
- Water - 4 cups
- Pepper powder - 1/4 tbsp
- Coriander leaves
- Salt
- oil
- Black Peppercorns - 1 tbsp
- Jeera/Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tbsp
- Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
- Dried red chilli - 4 to 5
- Vadavam - 1/4 tbsp
- Curry leaves - hand full
- Dry roast the spices and grind them without adding water,this spices powder can be stored for future use.
- In a pressure cooker add chicken,onion,tomato,garlic,turmeric,salt,grinded spices powder and mix them well,now add 4 cups of water and pressure cook all these for almost 4 to 6 whistles.Once the pressure subsides open the lid and transfer the soup in a bowl.
- Heat the oil in a kadai and add vadagam and curry leaves,this is optional but adds good flavor and aroma to soup.
- Add this tempering to soup.
- Finally add pepper,coriander leaves and serve hot.
