Early meal - South Indian Cusine

Medu Vada

Medu vada is all time favourite breakfast for my kids . Medu means soft so take care that it should remain soft.
Ingredients

Urad dal - 1 cup
Green chilli - 4
Jeera - 1tbps
Oninon - 2 (finely chopped)
Curry leaf and corainder leaf.(chopped)
salt - to taste
oil - to deep fry

Preparation
  • Clean the urad dal and soak it for almost 1hr 30min.
  • Add greenchili to the soaked dal and grind it to a smooth batter.
  • Now add jeera,sliced oninon, cury leaf,corainder and salt to the batter and mix it well.
  • Heat oil in kadai on medium flame once it is done.
  • Take banana leaf or you can use your hand,wet your hand( or leaf) take little portion of batter and make a hole in centre.
  • Gently place the vada in oil,deep fry till it turns golden brown,repeat with remaining batter.
  • Serve hot with sambar and cocunut chuteny.
